We are pleased to announce that www.Kitegear.com
have adapted a system they developed over a year ago so that
it is now "the whole chicken ! "
to go direct to the relevant page on the kitegear.com site.
- You will notice they don't currently have a loop to clip off
your safety line. They assume a wrist or harness safety line.
But see our below if you want to DIY attach the safety line to
the Chicken Release.

| To attach the Wild Country strap to your bar and loop
it around the bar and through itself.
Note the garden tags to prevent the strap dropping into the
hook. |
We've found a shorter strap can get twisted around the
hook in a way that then prevents smooth release. So go for
30cm. You will see we did originally try shorter straps. (See
features) |
Strap to shackle. Rope loops for safety attachment and for
release.
Here bowline knots with the ends secured and stopper knots are
used. |
Make sure the loops are below the size that allows them
to go over the top of the closed shackle.
A nice place to find some Velcro to hold the release toggle
vertically up is an old pair of wet suit boots. Please see
the features page. |
Buy the Wichard 2673 shackle on-line from www.kitegear.com,
or the system they've made into the Whole Chicken, http://www.kitegear.com/products.asp?catID=3&page=1
Fix it to your bar with a climbing strop from Snow & Rock strop
/ strap.

9 September 2002
Despite some very positive early feedback all of the insurance
brokers / leads we were pursuing to make sure we had manufacturer
and seller cover for selling the Chicken Release device have come
back unable to give us cover.
It appears that the recent stock market fall has trashed the equity
that secures ("underwrites") the policy's they already
have in place to such an extent that all insurers are currently
only looking to sell insurance to known lower areas of risk.
A complete disaster, but required.
Example scenario:
- Beginner in 25 knot wind gusting 35 knots takes out a 15m kite
and gets in trouble.
- Seriously hurt or kill themselves or somebody else.
- The injured parties +/or their relatives / friends look to sue
the suppliers of the kit etc.
- We could be one of the targets of this action.
So we are trying to see if we can pass on the design / patents
...... to an existing manufacturer of kite kit. As such companies
already have insurance in place (or should have) and adding another
product is very unlikely to cause a change in premium. This will
also keep the per unit cost down.
We're not asking for any money for this, we just want the sport
to be safer.
I've put more detail on this below.
So as soon as this moves forward we'll keep you posted.
So if you are a manufacturer / distributor, or know of one who
might be interested please get them to get in touch with us.
- We've got a manufacturer ready to make them !
Thanks
Keep it safe.
Rory
Our Thoughts on Transfer
1. Exclusive transfer / assign the patent(s) to ............
2. Assign the Chicken Release name and logo to ............ for
the sale of the device only (we want to sell Chicken Release T-shirts).
3. We keep www.chickenrelease.com and sell Chicken Release devices,
supplied by .............
We would want to be supplied at the same price you supply other
distributors and sell at the same price they sell them at.
If this works out, could be great as we have several other accessory
ideas !

Rory has returned from a week of testing in Egypt.
Despite a lack of "decent" wind for most of the week,
some good testing was done and there are subsequent refinements
to the Chicken Release.
Ash has filed the Patent which means that we can begin showing
others the details of the device.
