Illustration and Picture annotation explanation

  1. Attaches to the spreader bar between the spreader bar hook (the spreader bar hook is NOT shown in the illustration.)
  2. The strap is a specific length to prevent twisting around the spreader bar hook. The material strop can be easily replaced when worn. The strap is head sealed.
    1. Looking to make spare strops available.
  3. Rotating Wichard shackle so that the bar can spin. Releases under kite surfing load and when sandy.
  4. Large loop to attach safety line. Correct loop material and welding method used so won't rust and deteriorate in the water environment of use.
    1. The Wichard shackle is stainless steel with some plated mild steel.
  5. Re-enforced release line. The Wichard shackle can pinch the release line so it needs to be resistant to this. This line is fitted in a way that it can't be set to the wrong side of the release shackle as that would prevent it's smooth release operation. The Chicken Release uses a crimped plastic coated steel wire loop.
  6. Attached safety line. (Will be provided with the Chicken Release).
  7. Large attachment device to go around the "chicken loop" (left hand picture) or centre line (right hand picture). This keeps the angle of the release line away from the direction that releases the shackle. Without this kite surfing body dragging with a release ball can release the shackle. This also puts the release toggle (item 8) in a consistent position for easy location when desired.
  8. Large consistently positioned release grab toggle.
